LMS PTA Officers, Duties & Time Requirements

President
Preside at all PTA meetings
Coordinate the work of officers & committees
Submit officer contact information to state office
Serve on every committee EXCEPT nominating committee
Any other duties needed to adhere to by-laws
Hours per week vary depending on activities – an average of 4 hours per week

Vice Presidents
1st VP: Membership
Develops strategies to enhance and engage membership Work with president on activities
Oversee bylaws and creates committee to renew
Other duties as assigned
Hours per week vary depending on activities – an average of 2-3

2nd VP: Ways & Means
Work closely with the president on activities
Perform president duties in their absence
Establish Fundraising activities and committees and serves on them
Other duties as assigned
Hours per week vary depending on activities – an average of 2-3

Secretaries
Recording Secretary
Keep the minutes of all meetings
Keep the official bylaws in his/her files
Maintain a membership list in accordance with VA PTA
Other duties as assigned
Hours per week vary depending on activities – an average of 4-6

Corresponding Secretary
Prepare all correspondence and maintains all files
Publish meeting minutes
Other duties as assigned

Treasurer
Have custody of all funds and finances
Keep accurate account of receipts and expenditures
Make disbursements as authorized in accordance with the adopted budget
Prepare and have checks signed
Present a written financial statement at each meeting
Prepare an end of year financial report
Prepare for audit and coordinate
Submit year end audit report to VA PTA
Submit Tax forms in a timely manner
Submit dues in a timely manner
Other duties as assigned
Hours per week vary during the month/time of year – average 1-2
